Consulting Background

As a corporate consultant, Dr. Capacchione provided management and staff training for Walt Disney Imagineering (theme park design) for ten years. She has also led career transition seminars and counseling for such outplacement firms as Right Associates and Drake, Beam, Morin. Her book, The Talent Workbook is a program of talent-based career and life planning. She currently conducts career and life coaching for individuals via skype and phone.

Dr. Capacchione’s book, Visioning: Ten Steps to Designing the Life of Your Dreams, is being used in corporations and small businesses as well as in coaching with individuals doing personal life and goal setting. Dr. Capacchione conducts Visioning® workshops for leaders whose task is creating mission statements and visions for organizations and teams.

In education, Dr. Capacchione has created model programs for such school districts as Los Angeles Unified, Lawndale and Garvey in California. Working with multi-cultural, multi-lingual communities, Dr. Capacchione applied her Creative Journal Method and Basic Skills through the Arts curriculum. In a pilot study in the Garvey District (near Los Angeles) under an ESEA Title IIB grant, reading and math scores were raised as high as twenty percentile points in one school year. This is a predominantly Hispanic and Asian population. Dr. Capacchione and her team of certified instructors implemented a two-year Creative Journal program for the Mission School District in southern Texas (grades K-12). Her team, under the direction of Dr. Marsha Nelson, has also conducted research in the Edinburg Schools, Edinburg, Texas in conjunction with the University of Texas PanAmerican.

Most recently, Creative Journal Expressive Arts Methods have been applied in cancer support groups in South Texas at the Mc Allen Public Library. These groups, organized by Dr. Marsha Nelson, have contributed to greater peace and well-being for cancer patients and their families as they learn to express their emotions and distress as they face surgery and/or treatment. This has brought Dr. Capacchione’s work full circle from her own discovery of art therapy while struggling with a life-threatening condition.

An inspiring speaker and workshop leader, Dr. Capacchione engages audiences with playful and interactive experiences. She has been acclaimed for her ability to spark innate creativity and develop highly effective teams in business, industry, education, medical and mental health systems. She has been a frequent guest on media and has been the subject of numerous magazine, newspaper and ezine articles and book reviews.
